What TopSci.net Tools is
Most free online tools work by uploading your file to someone else's server, processing it there and sending it back. That is fine for a holiday photo. It is not fine for a passport scan, a contract PDF or an unpublished figure from a paper under review.
TopSci.net does the work on your own computer instead. Every tool uses what is already built into your browser: the canvas for images, the cryptography API for hashes and encryption, a PDF engine for documents. The file is processed locally and never sent anywhere. There is no sign-up, no upload and no watermark.
The collection started as a few tools that researchers on TOPSCINET kept asking for: resizing a profile photo, making a QR code for a conference poster, converting an image format. It has grown into more than sixty tools, and users can request new ones.
