What TOPSCINET is
TOPSCINET is where the Top 2% Scientists list becomes searchable. Type a name or an institution and you get every edition that researcher appears in, in both of the list's rankings: the career-long ranking, which measures impact across a whole career, and the single-year ranking, which measures citations received in the most recent calendar year.
The raw dataset is published as one large spreadsheet per edition, and the editions are separate files. TOPSCINET joins them up, so a scientist's history across years sits on a single profile instead of being scattered across a dozen downloads. The analytics view covers the editions from 2020 to 2026.
Researchers who appear on the list can claim their profile. Claiming is verified by hand: you sign in with your university email address, an administrator reviews the request, and a verification badge is added once it is approved. Verified researchers can add a photo and links to Google Scholar, ORCID, ResearchGate, LinkedIn and their university page, and download a certificate of inclusion.
All ranking data comes from the Elsevier Data Repository. TOPSCINET presents it; it does not change it. Corrections to the underlying data have to be made in Scopus, and appear in the next annual edition.
Key features
Search by name or institution

One profile across every year

The top scientists, institutions and countries for any edition from 2020 to 2026, plus a Top 10 by Country view.
Nobel laureates and SCINET
A section on Nobel laureates in the sciences, and SCINET, a social space where listed researchers can connect with each other.

Frequently asked questions
How do I claim my TOPSCINET profile?
Select Claim Your Profile, sign in with your university email address and submit. An administrator checks the request, and the verified badge is added once it is approved.
My affiliation or name is wrong. Can TOPSCINET fix it?
TOPSCINET shows the data exactly as published. The list is built from Scopus author profiles, so corrections have to be made through Scopus's Author Feedback Wizard. They will then appear in the next annual edition.
Does it include the 2026 edition?
Yes. The 2026 edition (Version 9 of the dataset, published 7 October 2026) is included alongside the earlier editions.
